Stress Management: What are your stressors? How can you relieve them?

Stress is an inevitable part of life. Sometimes it can feel like you are under too much pressure from work, home, or both. It can be hard to recognize stress in your daily life. These are signs you could be suffering from chronic stress.

Stress can become overwhelming. It is important to learn how to reduce it. These tips can help calm your body and mind.


  • Set realistic goals. It's OK to say no and to stop doing some things that are adding to your workload. Asking for help, prioritizing, and pacing your time will reduce stress.


  • A balanced diet is important. While you may feel the need to eat junk food when feeling low, it's important that you eat a balanced diet. Consider drinking tea or eating whole grains and fish.


  • Relaxation can be added to your daily routine. It can feel as if you don't have time for yourself when you are stressed. It is important to set aside some time for you to relax and refresh. A massage is a wonderful way to relieve stress and to have an hour for yourself.


  • Concentrate on your breathing. Relaxing your brain and body by practicing breathing techniques can help you calm down. Take three seconds to breathe through your nose. Keep your breath going for two seconds. Keep your breath in and count to three.
